Job Description

The Field Artillery Firefinder Radar Operator plays a crucial role in identifying and communicating enemy positions to their unit. This specialized radar operator uses highly advanced equipment to detect and track targets, providing vital information for defensive units.

Key Responsibilities
  • Establish and maintain radio and wire communications
  • Construct bunkers and similar areas for other field artillery
  • Maintain Firefinder radar with scheduled checkups
Skills and Qualifications
  • Field tactics and combat communications
  • Calculating/recording speed, direction, and altitude
  • Geometry and math skills
  • Ability to maintain focus for long periods of time
Training and Benefits

Job training for Field Artillery Firefinder Radar Operators consists of 10 weeks of Basic Training and eight weeks of Advanced Individual Training. In the Army National Guard, you will learn valuable job skills while earning a regular paycheck and qualifying for tuition assistance.
