Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled HVAC Technician to join our team at the University of Vermont. As a key member of our facilities team, you will be responsible for the installation, maintenance, and repair of building heating, ventilation, and air conditioning systems and controls.

Key Responsibilities
  • Perform highly skilled work in the installation, maintenance, and repair of building heating, ventilation, and air conditioning systems and controls.
  • Perform highly skilled work in the maintenance and repair of refrigeration equipment, including chillers, freezers, refrigerators, coolers, and related devices.
  • Confer with supervisors regarding assigned duties and communicate with university campus partners on requests.
  • Access information utilizing computers.
  • Promote a workplace culture that encourages safety within the shop and in the field.
  • Operate a university vehicle to transport materials, tools, and equipment.
  • May be required to operate an aerial lift.
Requirements
  • High School diploma, Vermont Type S C3 License, and Vermont Natural Gas Installer Certification, or ability to acquire within six months.
  • Three years' experience in HVAC equipment and controls installation, maintenance, and repair experience required.
  • Refrigerant Recovery Certification required.
  • Experience using computers and mobile technology required.
  • Valid driver's license or ability to obtain and driver's check required.
  • May be required to operate an aerial lift.
Desirable Qualifications
  • Anticipated Pay Range $32 to $35/hour.
Working Conditions
  • Occasional evening and/or weekends required (if non-exempt position, may result in overtime).
  • External candidates must complete a 4-month probationary period.
  • A probationary period may be required for current UVM employees.
  • 40 hour work week.
  • A probationary period may be required.
  • Background Check required for this position.
  • A post-offer pre-employment (POPE test) physical examination is required.
