Key Responsibilities:

  • Respond to customer inquiries and resolve issues in a timely and professional manner.
  • Read and record meter readings, input data into computer systems, and perform other related tasks.
  • Turn on and turn off utility services, including electricity and water, as needed.
  • Investigate and resolve customer complaints related to meter readings and billing.
  • Perform minor repairs to meters and other equipment.
  • Maintain accurate records and files.
  • Work independently and as part of a team to achieve departmental goals.

Requirements:

  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • Valid California Class C driver's license and good driving record required.
  • Equivalent of six months of experience in customer service or public contact preferred.

Working Conditions:

This is a part-time position that requires working outdoors in various weather conditions. The ability to work independently and as part of a team is essential.

Benefits:

Temporary/part-time appointments do not qualify for City benefits, except for those required by law. The City does not belong to the Social Security system. However, enrollment in an alternative retirement program is mandatory, which requires an employee contribution of 8% of base earnings.
