Job Title: Outreach Coordinator

Join the City of New York Department of Transportation (DOT) as an Outreach Coordinator and play a vital role in promoting the safe, efficient, and environmentally responsible movement of people and goods in the City of New York.

About the Role:

The Outreach Coordinator will be responsible for planning and executing stakeholder outreach to support the expansion and operations of DOT's bike share and shared mobility programs. This includes creating presentations and outreach materials using PowerPoint, the Adobe Creative Suite, and ArcGIS for public meetings, on-street outreach, and stakeholder meetings. The successful candidate will also present at meetings to diverse audiences, liaise between DOT, other City agencies, and private contractors, and maintain and update the Unit's two websites with public presentations and plans as well as program updates.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Plan and execute stakeholder outreach to support the expansion and operations of DOT's bike share and shared mobility programs
  • Create presentations and outreach materials using PowerPoint, the Adobe Creative Suite, and ArcGIS for public meetings, on-street outreach, and stakeholder meetings
  • Present at meetings to diverse audiences
  • Liaise between DOT, other City agencies, and private contractors
  • Maintain and update the Unit's two websites with public presentations and plans as well as program updates
  • Develop strategies to increase enrollment in affordability membership programs and address racial, socio-economic, and gender disparities in ridership across the Unit's programs
  • Coordinate with DOT Press and Social Media teams, as well as private contractor press teams, on public announcements, events, and updates
  • Manage the Unit's public correspondence and respond to all correspondence directed to the Unit via email, phone, and other channels
Requirements:

The ideal candidate will have a baccalaureate degree from an accredited college and two years of experience in community work or community-centered activities in an area related to the duties described above. Strong preference for candidates possessing great attention to detail, experience or demonstrated interest in transportation planning and policy, bike share, and/or cycling ability to work collaboratively and inclusively and effectively communicate with all stakeholders.

Residency Requirement:

New York City residency is generally required within 90 days of appointment. However, City Employees in certain titles who have worked for the City for 2 continuous years may also be eligible to reside in Nassau, Suffolk, Putnam, Westchester, Rockland, or Orange County.
