Family Engagement Coordinator for Jewish Community

Position Overview:
The Family Connector role at the Peninsula Jewish Community Center serves as a crucial link for families with Jewish ties during their early parenting experiences. This position aims to empower North Peninsula Jewish families by fostering connections within the community and enhancing their engagement with Jewish traditions.

The Peninsula Jewish Community Center (PJCC) has been a cornerstone of community life for over 75 years, dedicated to enriching the lives of Jewish residents in San Mateo County. With a mission to create a sense of belonging and connection, the PJCC offers a variety of programs that reflect Jewish values while also serving the wider community.
PJ Library Bay Area:
The PJ Library Bay Area initiative focuses on connecting Jewish families with young children to their heritage through the provision of free Jewish literature. This program encourages families to explore and celebrate their Jewish identity, fostering meaningful discussions about values and traditions.
Key Responsibilities:
This part-time position requires approximately 10 hours of work per week, divided among the following key activities:
- Engage in personal conversations with PJ Library parents to build relationships and share resources.
- Organize one community gathering each month for Jewish families in the North Peninsula.
- Represent the PJ Library at community events to promote engagement and increase book subscriptions.
- Utilize external communication channels to share events and resources with parents in the North Peninsula Jewish community.
- Facilitate family engagement activities at local Jewish preschools and early childhood education programs throughout the year.
- Perform additional duties as assigned by the Chief Jewish Experience Officer.
Qualifications:
Ideal candidates will possess:
- Strong interpersonal skills to connect with parents of young children.
- A background in family engagement or education is advantageous.
- Experience within the Jewish community is preferred.
- A commitment to understanding the diversity within the Jewish community.
- Enthusiasm, friendliness, and organizational skills with a focus on follow-through.
- Proficiency in English writing and content creation.
- Comfort with regular engagement on social media platforms.
- Flexibility to work evenings and weekends as needed for family gatherings.
Work Environment:
This role may involve:
- Remaining stationary or standing for extended periods.
- Utilizing office equipment and communication tools.
- Occasional lifting of light items.
- Working in various community settings.
- Interacting in a lively environment with close proximity to others.
