Role Summary:
The After School Program Coordinator is responsible for ensuring a safe and engaging environment for children during afterschool hours. This position collaborates closely with the local school district calendar and involves planning and executing various recreational activities, providing homework assistance, and facilitating enrichment opportunities that foster children's development. The coordinator will also oversee transportation logistics from schools to the center.
Key Responsibilities:
- Ensure the safety and supervision of children at all times, including during transportation.
- Assist in the design and implementation of engaging programs that promote social interaction and thematic learning.
- Maintain a smooth operation of the afterschool program by supervising and interacting positively with children.
- Uphold the mission and values of the Peninsula Jewish Community Center.
- Supervise and engage children during swimming activities.
- Organize and maintain an orderly and age-appropriate learning environment, including the development of lesson plans and management of supplies.
- Provide nutritious meals and snacks to children, along with other assigned duties.
The physical demands of this role require the ability to:
- Occasionally lift and/or move items weighing up to 10 pounds.
- Engage in regular communication with children and staff.
- Spend extended periods sitting, standing, walking, and using hands for various tasks.
The work environment is dynamic and may be noisy, with frequent interaction with children and staff. Standard office equipment such as phones and computers will be utilized, and access to facilities like restrooms and break rooms will be provided.
Qualifications:
- A minimum of 12 units in Early Childhood Education, Psychology, or related fields is required.
- Individuals under 18 must possess a valid work permit prior to employment.
