Core Responsibilities:

As a Supervisor of Child Welfare Services, your role will involve planning, coordinating, directing, and overseeing the efforts of caseworkers and support personnel within the realms of child protection, adoption, and alternative care assigned to your unit. You will evaluate and allocate casework assignments; and review, supervise, and provide direction to your team regarding cases and service provision. Your typical responsibilities will include:
1. Ensuring compliance with established quality service standards.
2. Consulting with and advising staff on casework to assist with challenging cases and workload issues.
3. Assessing and comparing staff performance and/or outputs against established benchmarks to evaluate productivity levels and training requirements.
4. Collaborating with external agencies and community resources to synchronize services, promote essential community resources, and oversee cooperative agreements.
5. Analyzing and recommending program-wide enhancements and establishing unit protocols and objectives to improve service quality and continuity.
6. Coordinating efforts between the unit and service providers to effectively deliver social services to clients.
7. Authorizing service delivery and client/caseworker expenditures.
8. Negotiating various contracts and agreements with service providers and others to ensure appropriate services are rendered.
9. Reviewing and analyzing cases to ensure adherence to state and federal regulations, standards, and requirements, and participating in court proceedings as necessary.
10. Directing, coordinating, and/or participating in after-hours coverage to ensure adequate staffing.

Minimum Qualifications:

To qualify, your background must include eight (8) years of education and/or professional experience in social work, which includes at least two (2) years of experience as a fully licensed social worker* (LSW). A Master's degree is preferred. Preference will be given to candidates with the following skills/experience:

1. Recent experience in professional child welfare case management.
2. Comprehensive knowledge of and recent experience working with MACWIS/Katahdin.
3. Four years of experience as a fully-licensed social worker.

*An LMSW or LCSW automatically meets the two (2) years fully licensed social worker experience requirement.
