Core Responsibilities:

As a Supervisor of Child Welfare Services, your role will encompass the planning, coordination, direction, and oversight of caseworkers and support personnel involved in child protection, adoption, and substitute care. You will evaluate and allocate casework assignments, while also reviewing and guiding your team on case management and service delivery. Your primary duties will include:
1. Ensuring adherence to established quality service standards.
2. Providing consultation and support to staff regarding complex cases and workload challenges.
3. Assessing staff performance against established benchmarks to identify productivity levels and training requirements.
4. Collaborating with external agencies and community resources to coordinate services and enhance community support.
5. Evaluating and proposing changes to programs and establishing unit protocols to improve service quality and continuity.
6. Facilitating communication between your unit and service providers to ensure effective delivery of social services.
7. Authorizing service provision and managing client/caseworker expenditures.
8. Negotiating contracts and agreements with service providers to secure necessary services.
9. Reviewing cases for compliance with state and federal regulations, and participating in legal proceedings as needed.
10. Overseeing after-hours coverage to ensure adequate staffing.

Minimum Qualifications:

To be considered, candidates must possess eight (8) years of education and/or professional experience in social work, including at least two (2) years as a fully licensed social worker (LSW). A Master's degree is preferred. Preference will be given to applicants with the following qualifications:

1. Recent experience in child welfare case management.
2. Comprehensive knowledge of and experience with MACWIS/Katahdin.
3. Four years of experience as a fully licensed social worker.

*An LMSW or LCSW meets the two (2) years fully licensed social worker experience requirement.
