POSITION SUMMARY:

The Outreach Worker for the Child and Adult Care Food Program is accountable to the Nutrition Manager for the recruitment and support of childcare providers engaged in DCP's Child and Adult Care Food Program (CACFP). This role involves travel across designated service areas as necessary.


KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  1. Recruit childcare providers to participate in DCP's CACFP, aiming to enhance provider involvement.
  2. Stay informed about available childcare subsidy programs and communicate these resources to parents regarding DCP's food program providers.
  3. Offer technical support to childcare providers within DCP's CACFP home childcare network, optimizing visit schedules to maximize outreach while minimizing travel expenses.
  4. Distribute resources, including educational mini kits, to DCP's network of childcare providers.
  5. Conduct the minimum required home visits for the CACFP, overseeing food service delivery by providers to children and ensuring timely documentation.
  6. Organize and facilitate mandatory annual CACFP training for all enrolled providers.
  7. Maintain comprehensive CACFP records, including visit logs and children served, and enter meal data for monthly reimbursements into billing software, collaborating closely with the fiscal office to meet submission deadlines.
  8. Participate in the state's annual CACFP training, remaining updated on current issues affecting childcare providers.
  9. Work in conjunction with the Fiscal Office to uphold accountability for the CACFP program.
  10. Establish and nurture a professional relationship with the State CACFP contract officer.
  11. Assist with grant writing tasks as requested by the supervisor.
  12. Adhere to agency policies and procedures, including reporting suspected child abuse and neglect to the appropriate authorities.
  13. Ensure confidentiality of all agency-related information.
  14. Attend meetings and training sessions as approved or requested by the supervisor.
  15. Strive to achieve personal performance goals and remain open to professional development opportunities.
  16. Collaborate effectively with other agency staff, promoting a culture of respect and teamwork.
  17. Maintain strict confidentiality regarding children, families, and staff in line with established policies and procedures.
  18. Exhibit flexibility and foster positive relationships with various staff members.

Required Qualifications:

  • Prior experience in public engagement, record-keeping, and organizational skills is preferred. Strong written and verbal communication skills are essential.
  • Experience in Early Childhood Education or child nutrition is required, along with knowledge of basic nutrition, preschool nutrition concepts, and sanitation principles.
