Position: Early Childhood Educator

Location: Ellsworth Early Childhood Program

Compensation: $18.50 per hour

Employment Type: Full-time with comprehensive benefits

Incentive: $500 Sign-on Bonus


The Early Childhood Educator is responsible for designing and executing an educational program tailored for preschool-aged children, adhering to the policies and procedures set forth by the organization. This role emphasizes fostering school readiness, engaging parents, and ensuring the well-being and safety of children under our supervision. The educator will work under the guidance of the Center Coordinator or a senior educator to ensure that program operations align with the goals and desired outcomes of the organization. Additional responsibilities may be assigned by the supervisor, which may include evening and weekend commitments, travel, and occasional overnight stays.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Effectively contributes to the implementation of the High Scope curriculum, utilizing available resources and insights from subject matter experts.
  • Ensures that all classroom activities are developmentally suitable and enriching for children's educational growth.
  • Monitors and organizes classroom experiences by leveraging data from COR Advantage, ensuring timely and thorough ongoing assessments of child development.

General Expectations:

  • Demonstrates strong organizational skills and the ability to meet deadlines.
  • Possesses the capability to read, interpret, and apply organizational policies and procedures.
  • Practices sound child development principles, staying informed about current research and best practices.
  • Communicates effectively in both verbal and written forms.

Required Qualifications:

Applicants must be at least 21 years old. A Child Development Associates certificate or equivalent is required (may be obtained within the first year of employment). A degree in Early Childhood Education or a related field with a minimum of 18 credits in Early Childhood is necessary for advanced positions. Certification from the Department of Education (DOE 081) is required for collaboration with public schools at the advanced level.
