About the Role
Loudoun County is seeking a highly motivated and skilled individual to serve as a Compliance Coordinator in our Health Department. This critical position will play a key role in ensuring the department's compliance with federal, state, and local laws and regulations governing health information management and information privacy.
Key Responsibilities
- Serve as the department's HIPAA Officer, responsible for establishing and evaluating policies and procedures for HIPAA compliance, performing risk assessments, and monitoring compliance.
- Assess methods and procedures used to store and transmit protected health information (PHI) and identify security or other compliance risks.
- Oversee incident reporting and coordinate investigations related to potential HIPAA and other confidentiality breaches.
- Serve as the department's Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) Officer, responsible for establishing and managing FOIA policies, coordinating FOIA requests, and serving as FOIA Custodian for department records.
- Act as the individual responsible for overseeing the release of records subject to subpoena.
- Provide departmental policy development and staff training regarding privacy, HIPAA compliance, FOIA compliance, incident reporting requirements, safety, and health information management.
- Manage departmental public records to ensure they are maintained in accordance with the Virginia Public Records Act.
- Develop department plans, policies, and procedures.
- Ensure staff compliance with licensing and certification requirements.
- Oversee the credentialing process for providers and third-party payors.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Management, Public Administration, Human Resources, or a related field.
- Four (4) years of related work experience in health information, HIPAA compliance, or a related field.
- Valid drivers license and good driving record required.
- Pass pre-employment background checks including criminal, fingerprinting, and DMV checks.
