Key Responsibilities

Drees Homes is currently seeking a Purchasing Coordinator for our Houston Division. The Purchasing Coordinator plays a vital role in supporting various aspects of Procurement and Estimating. This position is accountable for managing assigned projects, providing insights, analysis, and summaries of current issues while proposing potential solutions.

Specific Duties Include:

  • Manage assigned projects, particularly addressing concerns related to purchase orders and FPOs.
  • Assist Builders and Estimators in ensuring the accuracy of purchase orders.
  • Conduct research to validate requests and eliminate duplications.
  • Analyze data to identify discrepancies and inconsistencies.
  • Participate in weekly project initiation meetings and FPO discussions, offering support as required.
  • Collaborate directly with the Cost Analysis and Operations Manager regarding cost-related matters.
  • Facilitate obtaining pricing from trade partners for new designs and options.
  • Oversee the permitting process for homes and HOA approvals.
  • Ensure vendor documentation is current and accurate, following up with trade partners as necessary.

Desired Skills and Qualifications:

  • Proficient in computer applications, particularly Excel spreadsheets.
  • Familiarity with JD Edwards and On Screen Take Off is advantageous.
  • Detail-oriented, analytical, team-focused, and an effective communicator (both internally and externally).
  • Ability to interpret bid sets and architectural plans, along with constructing cost estimates is preferred.
  • Experience in conducting bid analysis is a plus.
  • A visual learner with strong organizational capabilities and an independent work ethic.
  • Experience with permitting and collaboration with builders is beneficial.
  • Self-driven, capable of managing multiple tasks and meeting deadlines.
  • A proactive problem solver who takes ownership of projects.
  • Experience in a construction-related role is highly valued.
  • A High School Diploma is required; a Bachelor's Degree or equivalent experience in homebuilding is preferred.

The work schedule for this position is Monday through Friday from 8 AM to 5 PM, with additional hours as needed.
