Maintenance Mechanic II Job Description

The Maintenance Mechanic II plays a critical role in ensuring the smooth operation of our food manufacturing machinery and equipment. This position requires a strong understanding of mechanical and electrical systems, as well as excellent troubleshooting and repair skills.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Perform routine maintenance and repairs on production equipment, including conveyors, packaging equipment, and electrical controls systems.
  • Order parts and materials for rebuilds and corrective maintenance activities.
  • Operate all production equipment in assigned areas with minimal supervision.
  • Understand and interpret simple drawings and wiring diagrams.
  • Troubleshoot and repair mechanical and electrical equipment, including 3-phase electrical components and control voltage problems.
  • Perform welding repairs on equipment to prevent downtime.
  • Proficiently perform preventive maintenance on assigned equipment with minimal supervision.
  • Assist in training Maintenance Mechanic I and Operators on equipment operation and maintenance.
  • Lead Root Cause Analysis activities to identify and resolve equipment issues.
  • Follow all safety policies and practices, identifying potential hazards and risks.
Requirements:
  • Plant Equipment: Demonstrated ability to understand basic theory of operation to repair, troubleshoot, and make effective adjustments needed for efficient runs and sustained operation of equipment.
  • Experience: At least one year of experience at Level I or 5 years of experience in a maintenance role (or two years plus a technical Associate's Degree or equivalent).
  • Skill: Successful completion of Level II assessment, evaluating ability to troubleshoot, run equipment, perform millwright activities, and assemble/repair equipment.
  • Education: Minimum of high school diploma or GED.
  • Knowledge of PLC functionality and ability to test electrical and electronic equipment and components.
