Job Summary

This is a Deputy Chief Counsel position at the Department of the Treasury, specifically in the Tax and Trade Division of the Alcohol and Tobacco Tax and Trade Bureau. The successful candidate will provide legal advice and counsel to the Administrator of TTB and the Administrator's executive staff.

Key Responsibilities
  • Render legal advice and counsel to the Administrator of TTB and the Administrator's executive staff.
  • Assist the Chief Counsel in determining which court decisions involving TTB or the laws TTB enforces or administers should be appealed or further reviewed.
  • Furnish legal opinions and memoranda and assist the Administrator in the preparation and review of other TTB publications and correspondence relating to the laws enforced and administered by TTB.
Requirements
  • Two (2) years of legal experience at the GS-14 level, or equivalent level of difficulty in the Federal service or private sector.
  • Be a graduate of an accredited law school with an LL.B. or J.D.
  • Be a current member of a bar with a valid license to practice law in a state, territory of the United States, District of Columbia, or Commonwealth of Puerto Rico.
