Job Title: Deputy Assistant Attorney General

About the Role

The Deputy Assistant Attorney General will serve as a key advisor to the Assistant Attorney General, providing expert guidance on major policy matters and overseeing the work of one or more CRT sections.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop and implement policies and programs to eliminate unlawful practices of discrimination involving federally protected civil rights.
  • Conduct field surveys and inspection trips to identify and address civil rights issues.
  • Advise and instruct senior members of CRT, special counsel, and other Division and Department attorneys on matters related to civil rights enforcement.
  • Develop and review the Department's legislative program on civil rights, ensuring its adequacy under the Constitution and the need for such legislation.
  • Communicate effectively with diverse stakeholders, external partners, and individuals or groups having differing and often conflicting interests.
Requirements
  • Juris Doctorate degree from a law school accredited by the American Bar Association.
  • Active membership in good standing of the bar of a state or territory of the US, the District of Columbia, or the Commonwealth of Puerto Rico.
  • At least 5 years of experience in a senior leadership role, with a proven track record of developing and implementing policies and programs.
