Role Objective:
As the Children's Coordinator, you will play a crucial role in providing comprehensive support services to minority and low-income pregnant and postpartum women, along with their children and families at the Women's Residential Rehabilitation Treatment Program in South Los Angeles. This position will employ evidence-based methodologies, such as Motivational Interviewing, the Nurturing Parenting Program, and Celebrating Families, to facilitate positive changes.
Your responsibilities will encompass delivering vital assistance to women, children, and families impacted by substance use disorders. A solid understanding of child development, trauma-informed care, substance use, and mental health is essential to foster the overall well-being of the individuals and families served.
Key Responsibilities:
- Deliver case management services for children of participants, including scheduling medical and dental appointments.
- Facilitate enrollment in offsite daycare, educational institutions, and after-school programs.
- Develop a daily activities schedule for children residing on-site and for those visiting their mothers.
- Encourage mothers to engage in reading, singing, and playtime with their children to promote bonding.
- Provide care coordination for mothers and children transitioning from residential treatment to Recovery Bridge Housing and Intensive Outpatient Services.
- Organize and supervise onsite childcare during mothers' group sessions, counseling, and therapy.
- Plan outings to parks, libraries, and other child-friendly venues for mothers and children.
- Collaborate with Food Services to assess dietary needs and ensure appropriate snacks are available during visits.
- Oversee mother-child visitation on weekends and other approved times.
- Co-facilitate groups such as Nurturing Parenting and Celebrating Families.
- Establish partnerships with community organizations that provide relevant services to mothers and children.
- Assist in organizing 4-6 family events annually (either onsite or offsite).
- Help coordinate a quarterly Family Resource Fair.
- Build relationships with social workers from the Department of Children and Family Services.
- Manage contact calls to children living offsite (including virtual sessions and phone calls).
- Transport clients to court hearings and attend hearings, child visits, and other necessary appointments.
- Maintain an updated list of community resources for referrals and connections.
- Document services in SAGE within 24 hours.
- Provide weekly and monthly reports on program activities and outcomes.
- Implement all COVID-19 safety protocols.
- Perform additional duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
- A minimum of two years of experience in substance abuse services with women, children, and families.
- A Bachelor's degree in a human services field (psychology, social work, counseling) or equivalent experience.
- Valid California Driver's License, proof of insurance, and reliable transportation.
- Registered as a Drug and Alcohol Counselor.
- Culturally competent in working with diverse, low-income, and vulnerable populations.
- Willingness to work on holidays and nontraditional hours.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills to build rapport with clients and team members.
- Proficient in maintaining accurate documentation in compliance with organizational and regulatory standards.
- Ability to adapt to changing environments and respond effectively to crises.
- Understanding of trauma-informed care principles in substance abuse treatment.
- Familiarity with Motivational Interviewing, Nurturing Parenting Program, and Celebrating Families methodologies.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook).
- Comprehensive knowledge of child development, trauma-informed care, substance abuse, and mental health.
- Bilingual in English and Spanish is preferred.

Full-time employees working at least 30 hours per week are eligible for medical, dental, vision, and life insurance, along with a monthly allowance for insurance premiums.
