Senior Early Childhood Educator

Primary Role:
The individual will collaborate within a teaching team to enhance the care and growth of young children aged 6 weeks to 12 years in a well-structured early learning setting.
Qualifications:
- A high school diploma or equivalent is mandatory.
- Extensive and relevant post-secondary education or training in early childhood education or a related field is essential.
- A minimum of two years of experience working with young children and families is required; licensed childcare experience is preferred.
- Familiarity with Creative Curriculum, Teaching Strategies GOLD, and Ages and Stages Questionnaire is advantageous.
- Must meet the requirements set forth by the Bureau of Child and Adult Licensing.
- Active CDA certification is required and must be maintained.
- A satisfactory response to background checks related to criminal history and child abuse is necessary.
- Ability to engage effectively with individuals from diverse backgrounds is essential.
Key Responsibilities:
- Design and execute age-appropriate educational activities and experiences for both individual children and groups, adhering to the approved curriculum.
- Monitor and evaluate children's progress using Teaching Strategies GOLD and ASQ-3/ASQ-SE.
- Oversee children's activities to ensure their safety while promoting social interaction and enjoyment.
- Assist children with daily tasks, including toileting, personal hygiene, dressing, and eating.
- Collaborate with the Assistant Site Director to address any programmatic or family-related concerns.
- Work alongside the Assistant Site Director on assigned responsibilities, including preparing materials and maintaining cleanliness.
- Engage with children during mealtime to encourage healthy eating habits and good manners.
- Accompany and supervise children during field trips.
- Commit to ongoing education regarding anti-bias education, racial justice, and gender equity.
- Monitor children's health for any signs of illness or concern.
- Ensure a clean environment after activities.
- Communicate with parents regarding their child's daily activities, progress, and behavior.
- Adhere to all policies and procedures of the Children's Center.
- Participate in required training and coaching sessions.
- Provide classroom coverage as needed.
- Comply with local, state, and federal licensing requirements.
- Maintain confidentiality regarding sensitive information.
- Collaborate effectively with program participants and staff.
- Perform additional duties as assigned.
Working Conditions:
- Work may occur at various locations, including off-site and outdoor events.
- Physical activities include sitting, standing, kneeling, bending, and lifting.
- The noise level in the work environment is typically moderate to loud.
- Specific vision abilities required include close vision and depth perception.
Training Requirements:
- Orientation to organizational policies and mission.
- Training in racial justice and pronoun usage.
- Orientation regarding confidentiality and mandatory reporting.
- Completion of state-required child care licensing training.
- Minimum of 20 hours of professional development annually.
- Additional training will be provided as necessary during employment.
