Primary Role:
The individual will collaborate within a teaching team to enhance the care and growth of young children aged 6 weeks to 12 years in a well-structured early learning setting.

Qualifications:

  1. A high school diploma or equivalent is mandatory.
  2. Extensive and relevant post-secondary education or training in early childhood education or a related field is essential.
  3. A minimum of two years of experience working with young children and families is required; licensed childcare experience is preferred.
  4. Familiarity with Creative Curriculum, Teaching Strategies GOLD, and Ages and Stages Questionnaire is advantageous.
  5. Must meet the requirements set forth by the Bureau of Child and Adult Licensing.
  6. Active CDA certification is required and must be maintained.
  7. A satisfactory response to background checks related to criminal history and child abuse is necessary.
  8. Ability to engage effectively with individuals from diverse backgrounds is essential.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Design and execute age-appropriate educational activities and experiences for both individual children and groups, adhering to the approved curriculum.
  2. Monitor and evaluate children's progress using Teaching Strategies GOLD and ASQ-3/ASQ-SE.
  3. Oversee children's activities to ensure their safety while promoting social interaction and enjoyment.
  4. Assist children with daily tasks, including toileting, personal hygiene, dressing, and eating.
  5. Collaborate with the Assistant Site Director to address any programmatic or family-related concerns.
  6. Work alongside the Assistant Site Director on assigned responsibilities, including preparing materials and maintaining cleanliness.
  7. Engage with children during mealtime to encourage healthy eating habits and good manners.
  8. Accompany and supervise children during field trips.
  9. Commit to ongoing education regarding anti-bias education, racial justice, and gender equity.
  10. Monitor children's health for any signs of illness or concern.
  11. Ensure a clean environment after activities.
  12. Communicate with parents regarding their child's daily activities, progress, and behavior.
  13. Adhere to all policies and procedures of the Children's Center.
  14. Participate in required training and coaching sessions.
  15. Provide classroom coverage as needed.
  16. Comply with local, state, and federal licensing requirements.
  17. Maintain confidentiality regarding sensitive information.
  18. Collaborate effectively with program participants and staff.
  19. Perform additional duties as assigned.

Working Conditions:

  1. Work may occur at various locations, including off-site and outdoor events.
  2. Physical activities include sitting, standing, kneeling, bending, and lifting.
  3. The noise level in the work environment is typically moderate to loud.
  4. Specific vision abilities required include close vision and depth perception.

Training Requirements:

  1. Orientation to organizational policies and mission.
  2. Training in racial justice and pronoun usage.
  3. Orientation regarding confidentiality and mandatory reporting.
  4. Completion of state-required child care licensing training.
  5. Minimum of 20 hours of professional development annually.
  6. Additional training will be provided as necessary during employment.
