Flexibility in work hours is required, including potential overtime and callback duties. Additional responsibilities may be assigned as needed.
Key Responsibilities
- Confirms insurance details and maintains ongoing communication with insurance providers and regulatory bodies to facilitate reimbursements.
- Conducts daily and monthly financial closeout procedures to uphold internal controls and ensure accurate cash balancing.
- Possesses a solid understanding of insurance co-pays, deductibles, and workers' compensation regulations to guarantee compliant billing practices.
- Fosters a positive customer experience through professional and effective communication, both verbal and nonverbal.
- Demonstrates comprehensive knowledge of corporate policies and procedures relevant to clinic operations.
- Handles incoming calls, directing messages promptly to maintain workflow efficiency.
- Ensures an organized and efficient workspace by keeping files and records systematically arranged to support confidentiality and workflow.
- Coordinates the necessary resources to input accurate demographic and medical data, collects appropriate fees at the time of service, and provides financial counseling to patients when needed.
- Completes all additional tasks assigned by the Clinic Manager in a timely manner.
- Aims to achieve set performance goals.
Education
Preferred: Completion of a collegiate program or medical training, such as an Associate's Degree.
Minimum: Ability to communicate clearly and effectively in standard English, both in writing and verbally, to achieve high productivity. Proficient in legible writing and accurate record-keeping as required for job functions.
Experience
Preferred: At least one year of recent experience in insurance billing, medical collections, and familiarity with medical terminology.
Minimum: One year of current experience in insurance billing, medical collections, and medical terminology.
Special Skills
Preferred: Proficiency in 10-key data entry.
Minimum: Typing speed of 30 words per minute, experience with 10-key entry, excellent customer service skills, basic knowledge of Windows applications, and current understanding of medical terminology.
