Position Overview
MBC BioLabs is on the lookout for a dedicated and driven scientist with expertise in immunology or cell biology, acquired through academic or industry experience. The ideal candidate will possess a comprehensive understanding of T cell biology and will spearhead the design, execution, and analysis of both in vitro and in vivo assays aimed at evaluating the anti-tumor efficacy of innovative compounds such as next-generation T cell engagers or CAR-T cells, utilizing MBC BioLabs' cutting-edge technology.
Key Responsibilities
- Conduct cell biology tasks, including the isolation, characterization, and setup of assays with primary human and murine immune cells, tumor cell lines pertinent to immuno-oncology, and primary patient-derived cells.
- Design and perform experiments focusing on immune cell profiling, cell processing from xenograft models, and various assays such as cytotoxicity, proliferation, activation, cell viability, and survival, with a strong emphasis on flow cytometry to evaluate the functionality of bispecific antibody compounds or CAR-T cells.
- Engage in compound screening, optimization, and characterization through the application of relevant assays.
- Generate necessary reagents for projects, including the preparation of lentivirus for transducing established cell lines and primary immune cells.
- Oversee study design, project management, and data analysis for animal models assessing anti-tumor effects, in collaboration with external partners.
- Conduct immunological analyses associated with cellular and animal models.
- Utilize advanced gene editing techniques on primary human immune cells, employing technologies such as CRISPR, TALEN, and other molecular biology methods, including DNA and protein preparation, immunoprecipitation, and western blotting.
Team Collaboration
- Work closely with the market segment/application lead to strategize experimental approaches.
- Interpret, document, and present data from in vitro and in vivo models, drawing logical conclusions and effectively communicating results to project teams.
- Perform essential biochemical analyses to evaluate the functions of compounds and CAR-T cells in various cell-based assays.
- Independently identify and implement solutions based on published research.
- Prepare reports and present findings during regular team meetings.
- Support the team with all immunological inquiries.
- Foster effective communication and collaboration with colleagues.
- Manage multiple tasks and priorities to ensure successful project outcomes.
Qualifications
- Ph.D. with up to 2 years of research experience in cell or tumor immunology, cell biology, or related fields, or a Master's/Bachelor's degree with a minimum of 5 years of relevant experience and a proven track record of accomplishments and publications.
- Technical proficiency in a broad range of tumor immunology techniques, including cell culture, flow cytometry, microscopy, xenograft models, and bioinformatics tools.
- Hands-on experience in mammalian cell culture, tumor cell assays, and cytokine quantification.
- Strong communication skills, with the ability to work both independently and collaboratively.
- Critical thinking abilities with a high level of innovative and analytical skills.
- Self-motivated drive to contribute to the development of advanced immunotherapies.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience in the industry related to immunology or tumor research.
- Able to thrive in a dynamic startup environment.
- Familiarity with bispecific antibody and CAR-T cell experimentation.
- Knowledge of tumor models in mice and mouse immunology.
- Experience in T/B/NK/macrophage cell biology.
- Proficiency in gene editing, cell transfection, and transduction systems.
- Experience in preparing reagents for in vivo assays and conducting in vivo experiments.
- Background in protein engineering and antibody design.
- Familiarity with biological and statistical software such as Prism, FlowJo, or JMP is advantageous.
