Position Overview

SIR is seeking a Quality Intern to collaborate with our dedicated staff and membership. This position will play a crucial role within the Quality and Performance Improvement team, working closely with both staff and physician volunteers to advance quality improvement initiatives in interventional radiology. The intern will engage in data analysis projects and quality enhancement activities that support SIR members in their quality improvement endeavors. This is a remote internship offering flexible hours, requiring a commitment of 15 hours per week for a duration of 12 weeks. This opportunity provides aspiring public health professionals with valuable insights into clinical quality improvement, implementation science, and data analytics, while allowing them to explore and develop their own areas of interest.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Collaborate with the Quality and Performance Improvement Manager and Registry Operations Manager to plan and prepare reports, documents, presentations, and other materials related to metrics and analysis.
  • Assist in gathering information, organizing documentation, and providing updates on project statuses.
  • Conduct data analysis projects, identifying trends and performing statistical evaluations.
  • Contribute to the development of quality improvement resources.

Required Skills and Experience:

  • Currently pursuing or holding a Master’s degree in Public Health, Computer Science, Data Analytics, Statistics, or a related field.
  • Strong statistical knowledge and experience in data analytics.
  • Proficiency in MS Office applications (SharePoint, Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Able to work independently as well as collaboratively within a team.
  • Strong proofreading and editing capabilities.
  • Exceptional interpersonal and organizational skills.

Preferred Skills and Experience:

  • Experience with database design and segmentation techniques.
  • Familiarity with programming languages such as SAS, SPSS, R, Python, or STATA.
  • Proficiency in G Suite applications (Google Docs, Google Forms, Google Sheets).

Working Conditions:

The position is situated in a dynamic, fast-paced office environment with moderate noise levels. Employees have the option for hybrid or fully remote work arrangements based on the nature of their roles. The job involves extended use of computers and phones, requiring general mobility and the ability to lift up to 25 pounds. Frequent interaction with internal staff and physician members occurs through various communication methods.
