The Society of Interventional Radiology (SIR) is a leading professional medical organization committed to enhancing patient care and improving lives through minimally invasive, image-guided procedures. SIR serves a diverse community of nearly 9,000 interventional radiology professionals, including physicians, trainees, medical students, and clinical experts. In addition, SIR encompasses a foundation dedicated to research and fundraising aimed at advancing the future of interventional radiology.
Position Overview
SIR is seeking a Quality Intern to collaborate with our dedicated staff and members. This role is integral to the Quality and Performance Improvement team, working closely with both staff and physician volunteers to advance quality improvement initiatives in interventional radiology. The intern will engage in data analysis projects and quality enhancement activities that assist SIR members in their quality improvement endeavors. This position offers remote work flexibility, requiring approximately 15 hours per week over a 12-week period. This internship provides aspiring public health professionals with valuable insights into clinical quality improvement, implementation science, and data analytics, while allowing them to explore and develop their own areas of interest.
Key Responsibilities:
- Collaborate with managers to design and prepare reports, documents, presentations, and other materials related to metrics and analysis.
- Assist in gathering information, organizing documentation, and providing updates on project statuses.
- Conduct data analysis projects, identifying trends and performing statistical evaluations.
- Contribute to the development of quality improvement resources.
Required Skills and Experience:
- Currently pursuing or holding a Master’s degree in Public Health, Computer Science, Data Analytics, Statistics, or a related field.
- Experience in statistical analysis and data analytics.
- Proficiency in MS Office applications (SharePoint, Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
- Strong written and verbal communication abilities.
- Capability to work independently as well as collaboratively.
- Excellent proofreading, editing, and interpersonal skills.
- Strong organizational skills.
Preferred Skills and Experience:
- Experience with database design and segmentation techniques.
- Familiarity with programming languages such as SAS, SPSS, R, Python, or STATA.
- Proficiency in G Suite applications (Google Docs, Google Forms, Google Sheets).
Working Environment:
The position is situated in a dynamic, fast-paced office environment with moderate noise levels. Employees have the option for hybrid or fully remote work based on their roles. The job involves extended use of computers and phones, as well as participation in conference calls and webinars. General mobility is required to navigate the workspace, and the ability to lift up to 25 pounds may be necessary. Frequent communication with internal staff and physician members is expected.
