Job Summary

Interactive Resources - iR is seeking a highly skilled Process Engineer to join our team. As a Process Engineer, you will be responsible for coordinating and executing process improvement projects within our plant to meet safety, efficiency, uptime, and reliability goals.

Key Responsibilities
  • Process Improvement: Identify and prioritize opportunities for improvement in quality, uptime, waste, and product portfolio using key performance indicators.
  • Equipment Capability Studies: Conduct equipment process capability studies and develop action plans to address deficiencies in equipment capabilities to better align with customer requirements.
  • Design and Fabrication: Design, fabricate, and install equipment retrofit/process improvement projects to improve uptime and quality as well as reduce waste.
  • Capital Project Management: Prepare, submit, obtain approval, and implement assigned capital projects, managing inside and outside resources for implementation to ensure completion on-time and within budget.
  • Installation and Operational Qualification: Prepare and implement Installation and Operational Qualification (IQ/OQ) protocols for new equipment installation validation.
  • Technical Expertise: Provide technical expertise to production maintenance mechanics in daily activities and help troubleshoot problem areas.
  • Preventive Maintenance: Provide technical input for the Preventive Maintenance program for all production equipment.
  • Standard Operating Procedures: Develop standard operating procedures for equipment and train equipment operators as needed.
  • Team Leadership: Act as team leader for cross-functional improvement project teams.
  • Equipment Evaluation: Provide technical expertise to production management for equipment evaluation and troubleshooting problem areas.
  • Audit and Negotiation: Audit equipment vendors, construction services, and engineering contractors and make recommendations regarding in-house or external work.
  • Equipment Specification: Prepare equipment specification documents and lead negotiations for new equipment purchases.
  • Capital Budget: Provide input for annual capital budget preparation.
  • Engineering Drawings: Develop and maintain engineering drawings.
  • Equipment Downtime: Support manufacturing to ensure minimal equipment downtime.
  • Project Budget: Oversee and manage the monthly project budget for the department.
  • Departmental Deliverables: Track key departmental deliverables (downtime, OEE, TPM).
  • External Facilities: Oversee and manage any assigned external facilities or maintenance contracts.
  • Leadership and Supervision: Provide strong, positive leadership and supervision to ensure good morale, high productivity, and strong employee development.
  • Predictive Maintenance: Assist in the development and execution of preventive and predictive maintenance systems for equipment.
  • Alternate Sources: Develop alternate sources in addition to using OEM for parts.
  • Capital Plan: Assist with the development of the annual capital plan and manage to the annual capital budget.
  • External Sources: Research and qualify external sources for the purchase and manufacture of external parts and services.
Minimum Requirements/Qualifications
  • Education: 4-year technical degree preferably in mechanical or manufacturing engineering with a specialization in process engineering, equipment design, and fabrication.
  • Experience: Minimum of 4-8 years of experience in a manufacturing setting with a packaging and/or injection stretch blow molding specialization.
  • Project Management: Strong Project Management skills with experience in the use of Lean Six Sigma tools.
  • Communication and Teamwork: Demonstrated superior communication, teamwork, and organizational skills.
  • SMRP Certification: SMRP certification a plus.
  • Interpersonal Skills: Strong Interpersonal skills – works well with others in different roles (equipment operators, maintenance technicians, external suppliers, etc.).
  • Communication Skills: Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Commitment to Safety: Strong commitment to personnel and process safety.
  • Knowledge of Equipment and Technology: Strong overall knowledge of equipment and new technology in industry to maintain production.
  • CMMS Software: Must be familiar with CMMS software.
