Position Summary:
Are you skilled in assisting individuals in navigating their personal challenges? Join our Behavioral Health Services team, where we provide exceptional support to individuals and families facing life transitions, mental health issues, and substance use challenges.
The Recovery Support Advocate plays a crucial role in fostering a recovery-oriented approach to care, focusing on hope, respect, self-determination, and empowerment. This role involves delivering peer support, personal assistance, education on community resources, advocacy, and other supportive services primarily in-home and within the community to facilitate recovery from mental health and addiction disorders.

Key Responsibilities:
Under direct supervision, the Recovery Support Advocate will:
- Provide supportive assistance and model self-advocacy to help individuals research and access necessary community resources.
- Collaborate with team members to ensure seamless delivery of comprehensive services.
- Assist individuals in identifying, obtaining, and maintaining wellness and healthy lifestyle goals.
- Utilize various methods tailored to individual needs to facilitate the setting and achievement of health and wellness objectives.
- Compile and disseminate wellness and healthy lifestyle resources for individuals, staff, and other stakeholders.
- Offer structure and support to encourage personal progress and accountability.
- Help develop and coordinate activities, programs, and resources that directly support individuals or their family members in achieving wellness and recovery goals.
Examples of Duties:
- Assist individuals in obtaining benefits such as SSI, AHCCCS/Medicare, Section 8, identification cards, and food assistance.
- Ensure the safety of the living environment, including personal safety, food supply, utilities, and furnishings.
- Provide instruction in daily living activities, including nutrition, meal planning, budgeting, and personal grooming.
- Communicate with the clinical team regarding individuals' levels of independent functioning and support provided.
- Travel to individuals' residences to deliver peer support and personal assistance services.
- Transport individuals to appointments as needed.
- Share personal recovery experiences in a supportive manner to help individuals develop skills to achieve their goals.
- Complete documentation for behavioral health records in compliance with agency and funding requirements.
- Advocate for individuals to ensure they receive necessary services.
- Provide crisis intervention as required and notify the supervisor and treatment team.
- Assist in scheduling follow-up appointments for individuals.
- Perform other related duties as necessary to support agency growth and changes.
Qualifications:
Ability to work independently without daily oversight and effectively utilize standard office equipment, including computers, telephones, and copy machines.
