Structures Assembly Technician III

About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled Structures Assembly Technician III to join our team at Blue Origin. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for building and assembling human-rated lunar landers, working closely with engineers and technicians to ensure the highest level of quality and safety.

Key Responsibilities
  • Setup and operate precision calibrated tools, including torque wrenches, micrometers, and laser trackers.
  • Perform second-party verifications and hardware inspections to ensure compliance with engineering models, drawings, and specifications.
  • Troubleshoot and diagnose malfunctions, implementing corrective actions to prevent recurrence.
  • Operate material handling equipment, including forklifts, overhead cranes, and aerial lifts, to move and position hardware.
  • Identify and implement continuous improvement projects to enhance area safety and efficiency.
  • Perform routine maintenance functions, including daily clean-up of work areas to support 5S, FOD, and ESD.
  • Work off-shift, extended hours, and weekends as needed to meet project deadlines.
Requirements
  • 5+ years of experience in aerospace or related fields.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to communicate differing opinions in a collaborative environment without conflict.
  • A&P license or equivalent experience in launch vehicle or propulsion system assembly and integration.
  • Knowledge of 3-D CAD tools and ability to read and interpret drawings and standards.
  • Ability to support 2nd shift, 2pm-10:30pm, and additional weekend overtime as requested.
Desired Qualifications
  • 10+ years of experience in launch vehicle or propulsion system assembly and vehicle integration.
  • Experience with composite and metallic structure fabrication, including precision drilling, cutting, and assembly.
  • Experience with installation and maintenance of avionic instrumentation and harness assemblies.
  • Experience operating heavy lifting equipment, such as cranes and forklifts, around flight-critical hardware.
  • Familiarity with tube fabrication and pressurized system safety.
