Together, we are driven by our mission, eager to make a difference, and passionate about serving those in need.

About the Role:

The Program Support Technician within the Division of Child Support Enforcement is responsible for performing administrative and programmatic tasks related to child support cases. This role involves engaging with families to ensure they receive the financial and familial support necessary for their growth and success. Key responsibilities include gathering and organizing information to fulfill requirements, maintaining and updating client records in automated systems, and processing documents related to assigned case management duties.

The technician will communicate directly with clients, internal staff, and external agencies to obtain and relay essential information. Additionally, this position requires researching documentation to assist case management staff in various actions, including establishment, court proceedings, reviews/adjustments, and enforcement, ensuring that all processes are conducted in a timely, accurate, and comprehensive manner.

Essential Qualifications:

Applicants should demonstrate the ability to:

  • Gather and evaluate information/data through effective interviewing techniques.
  • Conduct independent research on cases to resolve complex issues.
  • Analyze and utilize legal and financial data, as well as automated reports, while performing mathematical calculations.
  • Interpret and apply relevant policies and procedures.
  • Exhibit proficiency in using personal computers, Microsoft Office applications, and automated information systems.
  • Plan, organize, and manage multiple priorities effectively.
  • Provide excellent customer service in an office environment, communicating clearly both orally and in writing with a diverse audience.

Additional Information:

Selected candidates will undergo a fingerprint-based criminal history background check. A history of criminal activity does not automatically disqualify an applicant from consideration. Employment verification will include checks of current and previous supervisory references.

The Commonwealth of Virginia is an Equal Opportunity Employer, promoting diversity within its workforce. We encourage applications from veterans and individuals with disabilities. Reasonable accommodations are available upon request during the application and interview processes.

Employee Benefits:

In addition to a fulfilling work experience, we offer comprehensive health and life insurance benefits, pre-tax spending accounts, state-funded short and long-term disability, paid holidays, vacation, tuition assistance, wellness programs, and a state retirement plan with options for tax-deferred savings, including employer matching.
