About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled Child Life Specialist to join our team at Children's Mercy Kansas City. As a key member of our pediatric care team, you will be responsible for assessing and providing services to children and their families in response to their psychosocial and developmental needs.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide education and coping support to children and families to reduce stress and anxiety accompanying hospitalization and other aspects of healthcare.
  • Train and work with Patient Activity Coordinators, Project Rise Hospitality Assistants, foster grandparents, and volunteers in assigned areas.
  • Facilitate an accredited Child Life Internship Program, a Child Life Practicum Program, and provide educational experiences for other healthcare professionals and learners.
Requirements
  • Bachelor's Degree required and 1-2 years of experience preferred or Master's Degree preferred.
  • Certified Child Life Specialist (CCLS) certification required within 365 days of hire.
  • Infant Massage Instructor Certification and Recreational Therapy Certification preferred.
