Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Child Life Specialist to join our team at Children's Mercy Kansas City. As a Child Life Specialist, you will play a critical role in providing psychosocial support to pediatric patients and their families.

Key Responsibilities
  • Assess and prioritize children and families to develop comprehensive plans of care based on psychosocial risk and need.
  • Provide education and coping support to children and families to reduce stress and anxiety accompanying hospitalization and other aspects of healthcare.
  • Train and work with Patient Activity Coordinators, Project Rise Hospitality Assistants, foster grandparents, and volunteers in assigned areas.
  • Facilitate an accredited Child Life Internship Program, a Child Life Practicum Program, and provide educational experiences for other healthcare professionals and learners.
Requirements
  • Bachelor's Degree required and 1-2 years experience preferred or Master's Degree preferred.
  • Certified Child Life Specialist or equivalent within 365 days.
  • Infant Massage Instructor Certification and Recreational Therapy Certification preferred.
