Position Overview

Abacus Technology Corporation is in search of a Systems Engineer to deliver expert technical assistance for the Command, Control, Communication, Intelligence and Networks (C3I&N) Directorate. This role is a full-time opportunity.

Key Responsibilities

  • Apply extensive theoretical and practical expertise in systems engineering throughout the acquisition lifecycle.
  • Conduct comprehensive evaluations of program portfolios to assess and recommend alternative strategies, enhance systems engineering initiatives, maintain program technical baselines, and execute system-level tests to ensure compliance with established specifications.
  • Facilitate program assessments to analyze proposed alternatives, systems engineering initiatives, and design/test outcomes to guarantee that subsystem and system performance meets program specifications.
  • Draft technical documentation that defines, specifies, and advises on system and subsystem attributes.
  • Generate management reports and deliver technical presentations for planning, execution, and corrective measures, utilizing principles of engineering economics.
  • Validate systems through the development of criteria and procedures.
  • Analyze and evaluate the outcomes of significant engineering systems.
  • Provide system and program engineering, technical support, and training to facilitate various programs and initiatives, including acquisition, development, integration, sustainment, ongoing evolution, deployment, and operational oversight.
  • Contribute engineering support services and insights to program and project risk management efforts in alignment with Air Force SEAM protocols.

Qualifications

Minimum of 10 years of experience in systems engineering, with at least 5 years in a Department of Defense environment. A Bachelor's degree in a relevant discipline is required, with additional experience potentially substituting for educational qualifications. Comprehensive knowledge of application software, operating systems, networks, and storage platforms, and their relation to system architecture is essential. Familiarity with data analytics is required, with preference given to candidates experienced in Microsoft PowerBI or Tableau. Proven experience across all phases of the system development lifecycle from initiation to deployment and sustainment is necessary. Candidates must be adept at eliciting and interpreting requirements and translating them into technical specifications and system designs that adhere to best practices and design patterns. Strong communication skills are essential for effective interaction with management, technical personnel, and end users. Experience with engineering methodologies, techniques, and standards is expected. Excellent verbal and written communication skills are required, with the ability to create and present technical presentations. Candidates should be capable of representing complex data visually to convey precise information to both business and technical audiences. A demonstrated ability to understand strategic and tactical project approaches while managing multiple projects simultaneously is crucial. U.S. citizenship and a current Secret clearance are mandatory.
