Position Overview

Abacus Technology Corporation is in search of a Systems Engineer to deliver technical assistance for the Command, Control, Communication, Intelligence and Networks (C3I&N) Directorate. This role is a full-time commitment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Engage in tasks that leverage extensive theoretical and practical expertise in systems engineering throughout the acquisition lifecycle.
  • Conduct assessments on the program portfolio to analyze and/or suggest alternative strategies, enhance systems engineering initiatives, maintain the technical baseline of programs, and design/execute system-level evaluations to ensure compliance with established specifications.
  • Facilitate program evaluations to assess alternative proposed strategies, systems engineering initiatives, design, and testing outcomes to confirm that subsystem and system performance aligns with program specifications.
  • Draft technical documentation that defines, specifies, and recommends characteristics of systems and subsystems.
  • Generate management reports and deliver technical presentations for planning, execution, and corrective measures utilizing principles of engineering economy.
  • Validate systems through the development of criteria and procedural frameworks.
  • Analyze and evaluate the outcomes of significant engineering systems.
  • Provide engineering support services and technical training to back various programs and initiatives, encompassing acquisition, development, integration, sustainment, ongoing evolution, deployment, and operational oversight.
  • Contribute engineering support and insights to program and project risk management activities in alignment with Air Force SEAM protocols.

Qualifications

Minimum of 10 years of experience in systems engineering, with at least 5 years in a Department of Defense environment. A Bachelor's degree in a relevant discipline is required, with additional years of experience potentially substituting for educational requirements. Comprehensive understanding of application software, operating systems, networks, and storage platforms, and their relationship to system architecture is essential. Proficiency in data analytics is necessary, with familiarity in Microsoft PowerBI or Tableau preferred. Experience across all phases of the system development lifecycle from initiation to deployment and sustainment is required. Ability to gather and interpret requirements and translate them into technical specifications/system designs following best practices and design patterns is crucial. Strong communication skills are needed to interact effectively with management, technical personnel, and end users. Experience with engineering methodologies, techniques, and standards is expected. Excellent verbal and written communication skills are essential for developing and presenting technical information. Capability to represent complex data visually or through other means to convey precise information to both business and technical audiences is required. Proven ability to understand both strategic and tactical project approaches while managing multiple projects simultaneously is necessary. Candidates must be U.S. citizens and possess a current Secret clearance.
