Key Responsibilities

  • Utilize extensive theoretical and practical knowledge of systems engineering throughout the acquisition lifecycle.
  • Conduct thorough evaluations of program portfolios to assess and recommend alternative strategies, enhance systems engineering processes, maintain program technical baselines, and execute system-level testing to ensure compliance with established specifications.
  • Facilitate program reviews to analyze proposed alternatives, systems engineering initiatives, and design/test outcomes to confirm that subsystem and system performance meets program specifications.
  • Draft technical documentation that defines, specifies, and suggests characteristics of systems and subsystems.
  • Generate management reports and deliver technical presentations for planning, execution, and corrective measures, applying principles of engineering economics.
  • Validate systems through the development of criteria and procedural guidelines.
  • Analyze and evaluate the outcomes of significant engineering systems.
  • Provide comprehensive system and program engineering support, technical assistance, and training for various programs and initiatives, including acquisition, development, integration, sustainment, evolution, deployment, installation, and operational oversight.
  • Contribute engineering support services and insights to program and project risk management activities in alignment with Air Force SEAM processes.

Qualifications

Minimum of 10 years of experience in systems engineering, with at least 5 years in a Department of Defense (DoD) context. A Bachelor's degree in a relevant discipline is required, with additional experience potentially substituting for educational qualifications. A comprehensive understanding of application software, operating systems, networks, and storage platforms in relation to system architecture is essential. Proficiency in data analytics is preferred, with knowledge of Microsoft PowerBI or Tableau being advantageous. Experience across all phases of the system development lifecycle, from initiation to deployment and sustainment, is necessary. Ability to elicit and interpret requirements and translate them into technical specifications and system designs while adhering to best practices and design patterns is crucial. Strong communication skills are required to interact effectively with management, technical teams, and end users. Familiarity with engineering practices, techniques, and standards is expected. Excellent oral and written communication abilities, with the capacity to create and present technical presentations, are essential. The candidate must be capable of representing complex data visually and communicating precise information to both business and technical audiences. A proven track record of managing multiple projects concurrently while understanding strategic and tactical project approaches is required. Candidates must be U.S. citizens and possess a current Secret clearance.
