Job Overview:
The Communications Coordinator will play a pivotal role in supporting outreach, education, and administrative functions for various initiatives focused on environmental equity and Arctic research.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Arctic Research Coordination:
    Assist in the development and execution of strategies aimed at enhancing NOAA Fisheries' Arctic research initiatives. This includes:
    A. Collaborating with leadership to gather insights from various organizations to define research objectives.
    B. Drafting strategic plans for review and organizing discussions with stakeholders.
  2. Meeting and Project Facilitation:
    Provide logistical support for marine science engagement activities, including:
    A. Organizing regular meetings with academic and community representatives.
    B. Preparing necessary materials such as presentations and meeting minutes.
  3. Equity and Environmental Justice Support:
    Coordinate and facilitate meetings for the Equity and Environmental Justice Working Group, including:
    A. Planning logistics and developing agendas for meetings.
    B. Documenting outcomes and preparing progress reports.
  4. Communications and Outreach:
    Enhance community engagement by:
    A. Preparing annual reports on implementation plans.
    B. Developing resources to assist in community outreach efforts.
  5. Activity Tracking:
    Implement tools to monitor project activities and ensure compliance with equity guidelines.

Qualifications:

Minimum Requirements:
- Master’s degree in environmental policy, science, or a related field.
- Experience in program management within a collaborative environment.
- Strong communication skills, both verbal and written.
- Proficiency in MS Office applications.

Preferred Qualifications:
- At least five years of experience in marine fisheries or science-based programs.
- Familiarity with Alaska Native communities and underserved populations.

The ideal candidate will possess a blend of project management expertise, communication skills, and a commitment to fostering inclusive practices in environmental research.
