Supported Living Care Assistant/DSP

Developmental Services, Inc. - Kokomo is seeking a compassionate and dedicated Supported Living Care Assistant/DSP to join our team. As a key figure in providing ongoing support to individuals with disabilities, you will play a vital role in helping them reach their maximum potential.
Key Responsibilities- Provide personalized support to designated individuals, promoting their independence and well-being.
- Document daily activities and maintain accurate records of support provided.
- Assist with scheduling medical appointments, transportation, and daily care tasks.
- Administer medication as needed, ensuring compliance with funding sources and governing bodies.
- Follow policies and procedures set forth by the Supported Living Division and the agency.
- Complete daily, weekly, or monthly tasks, including grocery shopping, transportation, and shift coverage.
- Display patience and empathy in all interactions with individuals served.
- Maintain confidentiality and adhere to HIPAA requirements.
- Monitor the physical condition of individuals' homes, ensuring a safe and sound environment.
- Use medical adaptive equipment, including wheelchairs, Hoyer lifts, and blood sugar testing equipment.
- Assist with physical needs, including feeding, hygiene, and toileting, and provide first aid as needed.
- Accept supervision and constructive feedback, communicating concerns to supervisory staff.
- Work scheduled hours, including irregular shifts, weekends, and holidays, as coordinated with the Staff Scheduler.
- Must be at least 18 years of age or older.
- High School Diploma or GED, CNA preferred.
- CPR and first aid certification, with annual renewal.
- CPI certification, with annual renewal.
- Clear criminal record, per Medicaid Waiver regulation requirements.
- Valid Indiana driver's license, insurance on personal vehicle, and maintain insurability as defined by the agency liability insurance carrier.
- Reliable transportation, meeting state requirements for transporting individuals served.
- Ability to work in independent and group settings, effectively communicating during crisis situations.
- Dress code adherence, as defined by agency and department policies.
As a Supported Living Care Assistant/DSP, you will be exposed to various environments, including potential bodily fluids, pests, contagious pathogens, and bed bugs. You must be able to climb stairs occasionally to access work areas.
