Lead Forensic Accounting Specialist

The role reports directly to the leadership within the litigation division. The firm engages extensively with Family Law attorneys across the region, focusing on providing comprehensive support for all accounting, taxation, and valuation needs related to divorce proceedings.
Key Responsibilities:
The Senior Forensic Accountant is tasked with overseeing multiple family law cases, guiding them from initial engagement through to resolution, under the supervision of the partner responsible for each case. This position is ideal for individuals who excel in time management and client relationship development. The role involves managing shifting priorities typical of a litigation support environment.
Primary Duties Include:
• Execute forensic engagements for clients involved in various litigation matters.
• Assist in planning and preparing engagements by documenting audit objectives and tailoring audit programs.
• Foster and maintain productive relationships with attorneys and law firms involved in litigation.
• Establish rapport with clients and gain insights into their business processes for valuation purposes.
• Analyze business operations, focusing on revenue and expenditure trends, financial obligations, and projected revenues.
• Conduct substantive transaction testing and assess the effectiveness of management controls.
• Prepare audit work papers that substantiate audit conclusions.
• Draft comprehensive reports summarizing forensic accounting investigations.
• Support the presentation of forensic findings to the litigation team.
• Contribute to the development of departmental infrastructure, including standard tools, templates, policies, and procedures.
• Engage in risk assessment activities and assist in planning forensic investigations.
• Compile and analyze financial data to produce financial statements, including affidavits.
• Oversee document management, including scanning and organizing records for litigation professionals.
• Ensure compliance with established policies and procedures in maintaining financial records.
• Prepare financial management reports, including alimony scenarios and child support guidelines.
• Conduct detailed analyses, including lifestyle assessments, asset and liability evaluations, and income history reviews. Direct and delegate tasks to litigation support staff as necessary.
• Maintain communication with counsel and clients to provide updates on case status and promptly address any issues.
• Draft internal and external correspondence to document engagement progress.
• At the conclusion of each case, ensure proper scanning of client files and return of original documents.
Minimum Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in accounting; CPA or CPA candidate preferred.
- At least 5 years of experience in public accounting.
- Familiarity with relevant laws, codes, and regulations; experience in income tax preparation is advantageous.
- Proficient in related software applications.
- Strong analytical, report writing, and research skills are essential.
- Highly motivated individual with excellent organizational abilities and capacity to manage multiple projects.
- Ability to interpret technical literature and apply it effectively.
- Experience in financial statement preparation.
- Exceptional verbal and written communication skills.
- Willingness to travel as required.
