Key Responsibilities:
  • Design and implement effective curriculum and instructional assessments;
  • Instruct assigned students at designated locations and times;
  • Develop a tailored program of study that aligns with the individual needs, interests, and abilities of students;
  • Provide instructional support to students facing challenges, both in-class and through pull-out sessions;
  • Plan and deliver focused, research-based interventions utilizing approved instructional materials;
  • Ensure clarity in learning objectives for students, employing suitable instructional techniques;
  • Utilize innovative teaching strategies and technology to enhance student learning and confidence;
  • Create a classroom atmosphere conducive to learning, reflecting the maturity and interests of students;
  • Uphold high standards and expectations for student achievement and behavior;
  • Implement the district's educational mission, philosophy, and instructional standards;
  • Regularly assess and document student progress, providing necessary reports;
  • Identify learning challenges and collaborate with district specialists as needed;
  • Maintain a safe environment for students, equipment, and materials;
  • Keep accurate records as mandated by law and district policy;
  • Assist in enforcing policies governing student conduct and establish fair classroom rules;
  • Be available for educational discussions with students and parents outside of instructional hours when necessary;
  • Commit to ongoing professional development relevant to the assignment and subject area;
  • Participate in required staff meetings;
  • Foster cooperative relationships with colleagues and stakeholders;
  • Maintain open communication with students, parents, and colleagues regarding academic and behavioral progress;
  • Promote equity and appreciation of diversity, ensuring equitable learning opportunities for all students, including those with special needs and language learners;
  • Create a safe and inclusive learning environment where all students can thrive, regardless of their background;
  • Support students with disabilities in general education settings;
  • Differentiate instruction for second language learners;
  • Fulfill additional duties as assigned by the Principal or designee.
Required Qualifications:
  1. Bachelor's degree or higher from an accredited institution;
  2. Valid Massachusetts Department of Elementary & Secondary Education teacher licensure in the appropriate grade and subject area;
  3. Sheltered English Immersion Endorsement for core content educators;
  4. Ability to engage with a diverse population;
  5. Familiarity with MA Curriculum frameworks, curriculum design, instruction, and assessment;
  6. Understanding of differentiated instruction and response to intervention is beneficial;
  7. Citizenship, residency, or work visa is required.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Bilingual in Spanish;
  • Dual certification in ESL and/or Moderate Disabilities.
Terms:

The school day lasts 6.5 hours, with potential for extended hours in certain schools. The academic year comprises 185 school days. For salary details, please refer to the CPS website.
