Description
Overview
The Inclusion Program Specialist role is dedicated to delivering tailored support, facilitating small group interactions, and providing individualized assistance for students with Individualized Education Programs (IEPs). This position also entails collaborating with afterschool program personnel, observing activities, and ensuring effective communication with educational staff and administrators.
Responsibilities
- Engage with students and staff to improve support systems, decrease adult-to-child ratios, and provide specialized educational instruction for children with IEPs, while addressing the needs of all participants.
- Assist during enrichment sessions, offering both small group and one-on-one guidance to students with IEPs who may encounter difficulties in full participation.
- Demonstrate effective homework strategies for staff to promote inclusivity in all activities.
- Analyze and apply IEPs to the Afterschool Support Plans.
- Work in conjunction with the Social Worker to create necessary accommodations.
- Partner with school staff and administration for cohesive support.
- Report daily activities to the Director of Child and Family Services.
- Carry out additional responsibilities as directed by the Executive Director.
- Experience in Social Work, Education, Mental Health, Special Education, Family Services, or Human Services.
- Bilingual in Spanish is preferred.
- Massachusetts Special Education certification is a plus.
- Proven experience in fostering inclusion and implementing behavior modification techniques.
- Knowledge of out-of-school programming is beneficial.
- Must successfully complete a Massachusetts criminal background check.
