The paraprofessional will assist, support, and collaborate closely with educators, administrators, and fellow team members to provide educational assistance in Special Education classrooms.

They will work with individual students or small groups to reinforce the learning of materials or skills initially introduced by licensed staff.

Additionally, the paraprofessional will aid the teacher in implementing special strategies to reinforce learning materials and skills, taking into account the unique needs, interests, and abilities of each student.

Responsibilities also include monitoring student work, supervising curriculum-based assessments, and assisting with makeup work as assigned by the staff. The paraprofessional will support classroom and instructional duties as designated by the teacher, while demonstrating ethical behavior and maintaining confidentiality regarding student information within the school and community. It is essential to maintain a safe working environment and promote safety awareness among colleagues in all school-related responsibilities.

Qualifications Required:
- Experience working with students
- A minimum of 48 college credits or successful completion of the ParaPro Test
- Citizenship, residency, or valid work visa required

Qualifications Preferred:

- Experience in a classroom setting with students with disabilities
- Bilingual in Spanish
- At least an Associate's degree

Terms: Paraprofessionals are members of the Chelsea Teachers Union (CTU). The school day typically lasts 6.5 hours, but may extend for schools with longer hours. The academic year consists of 185 school days. For salary information, please refer to the CPS website.
