Key Responsibilities:
- Develop and assess curriculum and instructional strategies effectively;
- Teach assigned students at designated locations and times;
- Design a study program tailored to meet the individual needs, interests, and abilities of students;
- Provide instructional support to students who are struggling, both in the classroom and in separate settings;
- Implement daily focused, research-based interventions using approved instructional materials;
- Ensure effective instruction by clarifying learning objectives and employing suitable instructional techniques;
- Utilize innovative approaches and instructional strategies, including technology, to enhance student learning and confidence;
- Create a classroom atmosphere conducive to learning, appropriate for the maturity and interests of students;

- Uphold the district's mission, educational philosophy, and instructional standards;
- Regularly assess and document student progress, providing necessary reports;
- Identify learning challenges and collaborate with district specialists as needed;
- Ensure the safety of students, equipment, materials, and facilities;
- Maintain accurate records as required by law and district policy;
- Assist administration in enforcing policies governing student conduct and develop reasonable classroom behavior rules;
- Be available to students and parents for educational purposes outside of instructional hours when necessary;
- Strive to enhance professional competence related to specific assignments and grade levels;
- Attend required staff meetings;
- Foster cooperative relationships with colleagues and maintain open communication with students and parents regarding academic and behavioral progress;
- Promote equity and appreciation of diversity to ensure all students have equitable learning opportunities, including those with special needs;
- Create a safe and welcoming learning environment that provides equal educational opportunities for all individuals;
- Support students with disabilities in a general education setting;
- Differentiate learning for students who are second language learners;
- Undertake additional duties as assigned by the Principal or Designee.
Required Qualifications:
- A Bachelor's degree or higher from an accredited institution;
- Valid Massachusetts Department of Elementary & Secondary Education teacher licensure in the appropriate grade and subject area;
- Sheltered English Immersion Endorsement for core content educators;
- Ability to work effectively with a diverse population;
- Familiarity with MA Curriculum frameworks, curriculum development, instruction, and assessment;
- Knowledge of differentiated instruction and response to intervention is beneficial;
- Citizenship, residency, or work visa is required.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Bilingual in Spanish;
- Dual certification in ESL and/or Moderate Disabilities.
Terms of Employment:
The school day lasts 6.5 hours, with potential for extended hours for schools with longer days. The academic year consists of 185 school days. Salary information is available on the CPS website.
