Position Overview

Under the guidance of the Public Areas Supervisor, the Lead Public Areas Coordinator plays a crucial role in overseeing the cleanliness and maintenance of the Casino and its associated facilities, ensuring adherence to management protocols. This position involves hands-on leadership, as the Lead Public Areas Coordinator is expected to perform the same cleaning tasks as the Public Areas Attendant staff while stepping into the supervisory role when necessary.

Supervision Responsibilities

The Lead Public Areas Coordinator operates under the direct oversight of the Public Areas Supervisor. In the absence of the Public Areas Supervisor, the Public Areas Manager assumes supervisory responsibilities over this role.

The Lead Public Areas Coordinator is responsible for guiding and supporting the Public Areas team as needed.

Key Responsibilities

Assists in directing, leading, and evaluating the work assigned to Public Areas personnel under supervision. Oversees departmental tasks including dusting, vacuuming, waste disposal, restroom sanitation, and the cleaning of windows, mirrors, walls, and carpets. Ensures the cleanliness of the Bingo Hall, Slot Machines, and other furnishings. Aids in maintaining inventory and ordering cleaning supplies as necessary. Schedules daily cleaning tasks for Public Areas staff when acting as a supervisor. Prepares and maintains documentation, records, and reports related to Public Areas activities while supervising. Enforces standard operating procedures for the Housekeeping Department during supervisory duties. In emergency situations, manages mechanical functions such as controlling electric power and gas systems. Familiar with adjusting Casino and Resort temperature controls. Monitors and verifies the accuracy of Public Areas employees' time cards when acting as a supervisor. Reports to work at designated times for various shifts to coordinate with the Public Areas Supervisor. Performs additional duties as assigned or required.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

Ability to supervise and direct the work of others effectively. Knowledge of tools and equipment used in Public Areas maintenance. Proficient in preparing and maintaining office reports and records. Capable of managing an inventory of cleaning supplies. Familiarity with general safety regulations and reporting procedures. Strong communication skills for maintaining positive relations with the public and employees. Ability to manage Public Areas supplies utilized in Casino and Resort operations. Competent in administering first aid until the Security Department takes over.

Qualifications

Minimum Requirements

Required:

High School Diploma, GED, or equivalent. At least one year of relevant experience in an environmental services setting. Valid, unrestricted New Mexico Driver's License is required. Must be at least 18 years old.

Preferred:

Previous supervisory experience is advantageous.

Licensing and Compliance

Must successfully pass a comprehensive background check. A post-offer, pre-employment drug screening will be required.

Working Environment

Duties are primarily performed indoors, with some outdoor tasks subject to varying weather conditions. Potential exposure to cleaning chemicals and compounds. May encounter hazards such as heights, motorized equipment, and hand tools. Additional risks include exposure to infections, fumes, dust, and other environmental factors. Physical demands include walking, climbing, standing for extended periods, and the ability to perform various movements. Work hours may vary, with potential for overtime as approved by management. Must be able to work long hours in high-pressure situations. Specific physical requirements include: Trunk – bending, twisting, pushing, pulling, and carrying. Arms – reaching, carrying, pushing, pulling, twisting, and rotating. Legs – lifting, pushing, pulling, twisting, and balancing. Hands – grasping, manipulating, and demonstrating dexterity. Eye-hand coordination is essential.

Must be capable of lifting up to 75 lbs.
