Job Overview

Position Summary: We are in search of a seasoned and strategic Chief Public Affairs Officer to spearhead our public relations, communications, and governmental engagement initiatives. The ideal candidate will have a profound comprehension of public policy, media engagement, and stakeholder collaboration, alongside a demonstrated history of crafting and executing effective public affairs plans.

Core Responsibilities:

  1. Strategic Direction:
    • Formulate and execute all-encompassing public affairs strategies that resonate with organizational objectives.
    • Provide counsel to executive management on public affairs challenges, trends, and prospects.
    • Guide a team of public affairs specialists, promoting a cooperative and outcome-focused atmosphere.
  2. Media and Communications:
    • Establish and nurture robust connections with pivotal media channels, journalists, and opinion leaders.
    • Supervise the development of engaging content for press announcements, opinion pieces, and various communication materials.
    • Oversee crisis communication strategies and devise plans to tackle emerging challenges.
  3. Legislative and Government Relations:
    • Track and evaluate legislative and regulatory changes pertinent to the organization.
    • Champion the organization's interests with governmental representatives and policymakers.
    • Coordinate lobbying activities and collaborate with industry associations and coalitions.
  4. Stakeholder Collaboration:
    • Design and implement strategies to engage with key stakeholders, including community figures, advocacy organizations, and business collaborators.
    • Plan and execute events, briefings, and outreach programs to bolster the organization's public visibility.
  5. Evaluation and Reporting:
    • Set benchmarks and performance indicators to assess the impact of public affairs initiatives.
    • Compile regular reports and presentations for senior management regarding public affairs outcomes and effectiveness.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Public Relations, Communications, Political Science, or a related discipline (Master's degree preferred).
  • A minimum of 10 years of experience in public affairs, communications, or a related field, with at least 5 years in a leadership capacity.
  • Demonstrated success in public affairs and media engagement strategies.
  • In-depth knowledge of legislative processes, public policy, and governmental relations.
  • Outstanding written and verbal communication skills, with the capability to create compelling narratives and engage diverse audiences.
  • Proven ability to lead and mentor a team, manage multiple initiatives, and collaborate effectively across departments.
  • Strong analytical abilities and experience with public affairs metrics and reporting.
