Job Summary

The Senior Director of Alumni Relations is a key member of the Stanford University External Relations team, responsible for developing and implementing strategic plans to engage and serve the university's 30,000+ alumni. This role will lead a team of 15+ staff and work closely with alumni volunteers, faculty, and university partners to create meaningful relationships and experiences for alumni.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop and Implement Strategic Plans: Create and execute plans to engage and serve alumni, including developing and implementing programs, events, and communications.
  • Lead a Team of Professionals: Manage a team of 15+ staff, including Alumni Communities & Engagement, Alumni Strategic Outreach & Education, Diverse Alumni Communities, and Reunions & Special Events.
  • Build Meaningful Relationships: Foster relationships with alumni, faculty, and university partners to create opportunities for engagement and collaboration.
  • Drive Alumni Engagement: Develop and implement strategies to increase alumni engagement, including creating opportunities for alumni to connect with each other and with the university.
  • Collaborate with University Partners: Work closely with university partners, including the Stanford Alumni Association and other graduate schools, to create opportunities for alumni engagement and collaboration.
  • Measure and Evaluate Success: Develop and implement metrics to measure the success of alumni engagement efforts and make data-driven decisions to improve programs and services.
Requirements
  • Education and Experience: Bachelor's degree and eight years of relevant experience or a combination of education and relevant experience.
  • Leadership and Management Skills: Proven ability to lead and manage a team of professionals, including experience in developing and implementing strategic plans and managing budgets.
  • Communication and Interpersonal Skills: Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, including the ability to build and maintain relationships with alumni, faculty, and university partners.
  • Strategic Thinking and Problem-Solving: Ability to think strategically and solve complex problems, including experience in developing and implementing solutions to improve alumni engagement and satisfaction.
