Job Overview

The primary role of a millwright involves ensuring the continuous operation of machinery, addressing breakdowns, and performing maintenance to avert future issues. Millwrights may also engage in extensive projects, including the repair and upkeep of various mechanical components such as cylinders, belts, conveyors, chains, motors, and valves, as well as the fabrication of new machinery.

Key Responsibilities
  • Adhere to safety protocols consistently
  • Repair and maintain industrial machinery
  • Execute welding tasks as required
  • Provide carpentry services when necessary
  • Conduct preventative maintenance on equipment
  • Ensure cleanliness and organization in the work area
  • Interpret blueprints and schematic diagrams to guide work processes
  • Dismantle machinery for repairs
  • Relocate machinery and equipment as needed
  • Assemble and install equipment, including shafting and conveyors
  • Construct foundations for machinery
  • Align and calibrate machines and equipment
  • Assemble machinery and secure it to foundations or other structures using bolts, welding, or riveting
  • Perform repairs and lubrication on machines and equipment
  • Undertake additional duties as assigned

  • High School Diploma or GED
  • Relevant experience in a similar role through a combination of education and practical work
  • Strong understanding of preventive maintenance systems and work order processes
  • Ability to analyze and troubleshoot mechanical problems using data analysis, intuition, and experience
  • Effective communication skills in both written and verbal forms
  • Capability to read and interpret safety guidelines, operational and maintenance manuals, and blueprints
  • Proficiency in basic mathematical calculations
Work Environment

While performing job duties, employees may frequently encounter moving mechanical parts, work at heights, and be exposed to outdoor weather conditions, extreme temperatures, and electrical hazards. Occasional exposure to wet or humid conditions and vibrations may occur. The noise level in the work environment is typically loud.

Employees must regularly lift and/or move up to 10 pounds, frequently lift and/or move up to 25 pounds, and occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. Specific vision abilities required for this role include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus. Regular use of hands for handling, reaching, and manipulation is necessary, along with frequent standing, walking, climbing, balancing, and occasional sitting.
