We are seeking a highly skilled Civil Engineer II to join our Public Utilities team at the City of Chesapeake. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for utilizing your engineering expertise to ensure the delivery of high-quality water and sanitary sewer systems.
Key Responsibilities- Review and analyze construction plans and calculations for water and sanitary sewer systems to ensure compliance with regulatory requirements and industry standards.
- Prepare and issue technical review letters to developers, engineers, and other stakeholders to ensure that projects meet the necessary technical requirements.
- Provide technical assistance and support to construction inspectors on Public Utilities-related engineering issues to ensure that projects are completed safely and efficiently.
- Perform other duties as assigned to support the Department and contribute to the success of the City of Chesapeake.
- Vocational/Educational Requirement: Bachelor's degree in civil engineering or a closely related field.
- Experience Requirement: Minimum of two years of related, full-time equivalent experience.
- Special Certifications and Licenses: Valid driver's license and a driving record that meets the City's standards; Engineer-In-Training (EIT) or Professional Engineer (PE) license desired.
- Strong problem-solving skills and ability to work in a dynamic environment.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work collaboratively with developers, engineers, and contractors.
