Job Summary

The University of North Carolina Hospitals and Clinics Department of Pharmacy's Acute Care Services Team has an opening for a Clinical Pharmacist to provide patient care to adult oncology and general medicine patient populations.

Key Responsibilities
  • Interpret prescriptions, review patient medication profiles, and clarify incomplete or contraindicated prescriptions with prescribers or other health professionals.
  • Utilize patient data to provide optimal drug therapy recommendations and assess medication therapy regimens.
  • Compound and oversee the preparation and dispensing of medications, including sterile products.
  • Comply with medication formularies and therapeutic substitution programs.
  • Counsel patients and family members regarding pharmaceutical care issues.
  • Direct workflow and supervise pharmacy technicians, students, and volunteers.
  • Adhere to federal, state, and institutional policies and regulations.
  • Identify and participate in process improvement opportunities.
  • Precept students, residents, and new pharmacy staff.
Requirements
  • PharmD or BS Pharmacy degree from an ACPE-accredited school/college of pharmacy.
  • Active pharmacist licensure with the NC Board of Pharmacy or obtainable before initiation of employment.
  • No prior experience required, but completion of a PGY1 or PGY2 residency or equivalent level of pharmacy experience is preferred.
Work Environment

This is a full-time position with a standard 40-hour workweek, with hours from 1:30 pm to 10:00 pm, Monday through Friday, with a weekend rotation. The position is exempt from overtime.

This is a State position employed by UNC Health Care System with UNC Health benefits.
