Job Summary:
This position complements the primary healthcare physician in making medical diagnoses, developing treatment plans, and providing patient care. The advanced practice provider practices under the supervision of a physician.
Main Responsibilities:
- For surgical procedures, assist in patient preparation, perform intraoperative assistance, and aid in vein and artery harvest for bypass conduit.
- Independently carry out clinical duties in accordance with established policies and procedures, and assist physicians in assigned areas.
- Prescribe medications as outlined in departmental procedures and protocols, and as approved by the relevant authorities.
- Conduct administrative tasks such as reviewing patient charts and OR procedures to provide input to the patient information management system, and assist with conferences and rounds.
- Collaborate with physicians, house staff, and nurses to develop protocols, manage protocols, and educate medical students and house staff.
- Plan patient care, which may include the entire course of treatment, ensure continuity of care, and prepare for discharge.
- Obtain medical history, perform physical examinations, perform diagnostic tests, provide patient care, and manage wound care.
Requirements:
Completion of an accredited graduate-level Advanced Practice Provider (APRN or PA) program. State licensure as an Advanced Practice Provider (e.g., Nurse Practitioner, Physician Assistant, Clinical Pharmacist Practitioner, Certified Nurse Midwife, Certified Registered Nurse Anesthetist). Board certification if required by the Department. DEA licensure.
