Position Overview:

The Healthcare Data Analyst II plays a pivotal role in analyzing data for various projects under the guidance of the Manager or designated authority. This position is responsible for gathering information to equip leadership with essential tools for optimal data analytic practices, aimed at fulfilling client requirements. The Healthcare Data Analyst II will also begin to cultivate analytic consulting capabilities while maintaining a customer-centric approach to create and deliver analytic products that align with or surpass client expectations. The role necessitates the ability to manage multiple projects concurrently while achieving deliverables with increasing autonomy.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Execute advanced data mining tasks promptly and accurately as dictated by project needs.
  • Generate standard and ad-hoc analyses and reports utilizing diverse data to support the development, execution, and oversight of programs/projects.
  • Integrate and manipulate extensive datasets from various sources (e.g., claims and encounter data) to facilitate analyses using tools such as MS Excel, Access, SAS, SQL, COGNOS, and Business Objects.
  • Apply standard qualitative and quantitative analysis methodologies using software packages like SAS and SQL.
  • Contribute to the formulation of project-specific analytic strategies, data manipulation, and collection efforts, which may encompass claims analysis, interviews, focus groups, and surveys involving clients and key stakeholders.
  • Utilize and develop standard testing measures and algorithms to analyze substantial volumes of data.
  • Design and create data collection instruments, databases, and procedural manuals based on comprehensive knowledge of data files and systems integration.
  • Engage in the design and execution of data management strategies and quality control protocols, including drafting technical requirements and documentation of datasets.
  • Produce and submit comprehensive data analysis reports, developing methods and narratives for inclusion in broader scientific reports prepared by senior personnel.
  • Ensure the precision of all data analyses, reports, and deliverables through meticulous quality control checks and resolution of discrepancies.
  • Interpret data for key stakeholders and leadership, identifying and reporting data trends and anomalies. This may involve creating tabular and graphical summaries suitable for inclusion in manuscripts for publication in peer-reviewed journals as well as presentations at scientific gatherings.
  • Coordinate and oversee activities related to data collection and analysis to meet project deadlines.
  • Maintain communication with all relevant parties to ensure clarity regarding project objectives, scope, and expected deliverables for each phase. Facilitate the communication of project status, budget, costs, issues, and related information.
  • Provide mentorship and training to junior data staff as necessary to ensure the accuracy and timeliness of deliverables.
  • Monitor compliance with federal and state regulations.
  • Perform additional duties as required.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in a business, health sciences, or a related discipline; or equivalent experience.
  • A minimum of 4 years of relevant experience, including at least one year in healthcare data analysis.
  • Proven experience and proficiency in relevant computer, statistical, or database applications such as SAS/SQL, Business Objects, Cognos, or similar tools.
  • Strong attention to detail coupled with excellent time management and organizational skills to handle multiple priorities effectively.
  • Demonstrated ability to research issues and identify resources.
  • Proficient in writing reports, journal articles, and other technical documents.
  • Exceptional communication skills, both verbal and written.
  • Interpersonal skills necessary for successful interaction with a diverse range of individuals.
