Job Overview

The Manager of Operational Risk and Compliance is tasked with assessing the efficiency of operational risk frameworks throughout the organization. This role encompasses daily management of the Bank Secrecy Act (BSA) Program, which includes responsibilities for Anti-Money Laundering (AML) compliance, Customer Due Diligence (CDD) initiatives, OFAC regulations, and Anti-Fraud/Loss Prevention strategies.

As a key player in promoting a robust risk culture, the Manager will engage with Business Lines and Support functions to effectively oversee daily operational risks while aligning with strategic objectives.

This position may involve leading or participating in risk-focused committees and supporting the Chief Risk Officer (CRO) in strategic projects for the organization. The Manager will also aid the CRO in reviewing the efficacy of governance processes, risk tolerance levels, triggers, and mitigation strategies.

Key Responsibilities

  • Oversee BSA/OFAC Program operations, including: Serving as the designated BSA and OFAC Officer. Conducting risk assessments related to BSA, AML, and OFAC. Monitoring AML transactions and ensuring appropriate reporting. Managing OFAC alerts and potential matches. Handling Currency Transaction Reporting (CTR) and monitoring. Performing 314(a) information sharing searches. Participating in remediation efforts for identified BSA deficiencies, ensuring thorough documentation and timely corrective actions. Addressing Elderly Financial Exploitation compliance and reporting. Collaborating with auditors during BSA/OFAC audits and regulatory examinations. Ensuring adherence to BSA and OFAC policies through effective use of tracking and reporting tools.
  • Lead or engage in operational risk management activities, including: Conducting operational risk evaluations. Managing the Vendor Management process. Overseeing the Incident Response Plan. Analyzing internal and external operational incidents, collaborating with relevant parties to identify root causes, and monitoring corrective actions. Ensuring the organization maintains a strong Anti-Fraud and Loss Prevention Program. Acting as the designated administrator for the Identify Theft and Red Flags Program. Conducting investigations related to fraud and loss prevention.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned by the CRO.

Qualifications

Experience:

A minimum of three to five years in a related field, with prior experience in security within banking or credit unions being essential.

Education/Certifications:

A college degree is required. Risk Management and Information Security certifications are preferred.

Interpersonal Skills:

The ability to influence and motivate senior-level professionals is crucial, necessitating a high degree of trust and collaboration. Effective communication skills, both written and verbal, are essential for achieving consensus on critical outcomes.

Additional Skills:

Adhere to all applicable federal and state regulations, as well as established policies and procedures. Maintain up-to-date knowledge of regulations concerning Information Security, Physical Security, and Operational Risk Management.

Physical and Mental Requirements:

Must be capable of performing primarily sedentary work with occasional lifting of up to 25 lbs. Ability to operate standard office equipment and perform computer work for extended periods is necessary. Must be able to work independently or as part of a team, handle multiple priorities, and maintain composure under pressure.
