Position Overview
As a Risk and Trade Compliance Manager, you will report directly to the Director of Risk at INEOS Energy Trading Ltd. Your primary responsibility will be overseeing control and reporting functions within the Houston team for INEOS Energy Trading operations on a global scale, particularly in Europe and the US. You will manage information related to procurement, hedging performance, and development while implementing comprehensive trading risk control measures, including market, credit, and cash risk, in accordance with established benchmarks.
Key Responsibilities
- Ensure a robust trading control environment, adhering to policies and maintaining appropriate resources and skill sets.
- Lead and support systems for the control function concerning exposure management and management information systems.
- Oversee trade control systems utilizing Allegro/Horizon/FEA.
- Ensure timely settlement of paper trading activities and accurate allocation of profits to the respective profit centers.
- Supervise daily, weekly, and monthly trading exposure along with profit and loss reporting, ensuring deadlines for KPI calculations are met.
- Collaborate with Finance to reconcile management information with financial accounts and address any discrepancies.
- Establish new exposure management or entrepreneurial trading books as necessary for the business.
- Support new business initiatives, ensuring that trade control and risk considerations are integrated into the assurance process.
- Conduct risk analysis for evaluating new trading strategies, trading limits, neutral stocks, and other risk assessments.
- Provide leadership in the Mid Office within the Houston office, collaborating with traders, business development, finance, and schedulers.
- Act as the primary liaison among various office functions.
Education and Experience
- A degree in Finance or a STEM field.
- A proven history in trading control and risk management.
- Previous experience in a leadership role is preferred.
- Comprehensive understanding of the oil and gas commodities trading industry, including markets, products, and exchanges.
- Familiarity with the energy sector in the USA.
- Prior exposure to trading risk management, control, and assurance processes.
- Knowledge of accounting principles and procedures, including accrual and mark-to-market accounting.
- Ability to constructively address sensitive issues while maintaining strong working relationships.
- Represent control functions effectively within a new team.
- Maintain close communication with international teams and management.
- Proactively identify and communicate potential issues to relevant teams or stakeholders.
- Ensure that raised concerns are followed up and resolved promptly.
- Exhibit versatility and a collaborative spirit within a team environment.
- Demonstrate high energy levels and a hands-on approach.
- Possess a strong drive, determination, and work ethic to meet tight deadlines.
