Nurse Residency Program

Our comprehensive program is designed to provide you with the skills, knowledge, and confidence you need to succeed as a registered nurse.
Program Highlights- 12-month residency program with a focus on clinical training and education
- Hands-on experience in a variety of patient care settings
- Monthly educational sessions and mentorship from experienced nurses
- Preceptorship training with a facility preceptor
- Measurement and evaluation of skills through hands-on simulations
- Mentoring from experienced nurse leaders
- Working collaboratively on an evidence-based practice project
As a resident in our Nurse Residency Program, you can expect to:
- Assess patient condition during admission and during each shift as scheduled, identifying and reporting any changes in patient status
- Perform procedures, monitoring, or other functions as ordered by the medical provider(s)
- Document the administration of care in the patient medical record in a timely and thorough manner
- Perform exceptional care by responding promptly to patient requests and striving to anticipate patient needs and resolve them proactively
- Teach patients, families, and caregivers about patient medical condition, patient status, treatment plan, medications, and possible side effects, and follow-up measures
To be eligible for our Nurse Residency Program, you must:
- Be a recent graduate of an accredited nursing program
- Have a current RN license in the state of Florida
- Have a Basic Cardiac Life Support (BLS) certification
- Be willing to commit to a 12-month residency program
HCA Florida Lawnwood Hospital is a 380-bed acute-care hospital that offers a full range of services, including labor/delivery, pediatrics, orthopedics, oncology, nuclear medicine, adult and pediatric emergency services, and diagnostic services.
