Job OverviewThe Sales Leader – Business Development Manager will be responsible for identifying and developing new business opportunities while managing and expanding relationships with existing clients. This role requires a strategic thinker with a deep understanding of the structural steel industry and strong skills in relationship management, negotiation, and sales closing.
Key Responsibilities- Relationship Management:
- Maintain and strengthen relationships with existing clients, including general contractors, architects, engineers, and developers.
- Serve as the primary point of contact for key clients, addressing their needs and ensuring high levels of satisfaction.
- Conduct regular follow-ups and meetings to understand clients' evolving requirements and gather feedback.
- Business Development:
- Identify and pursue new business opportunities within the structural steel fabrication and installation market.
- Develop and execute strategies to expand the company's client base and market presence.
- Network within industry events, conferences, and trade shows to build and maintain industry connections.
- Opportunity Identification and Proposal Management:
- Research and identify potential projects and clients that align with the company's capabilities and strategic goals.
- Collaborate with the project management and engineering teams to prepare and submit competitive proposals.
- Ensure timely and accurate response to requests for proposals (RFPs) and requests for quotations (RFQs).
- Deal Closure and Negotiation:
- Lead negotiations with prospective clients to close deals and secure contracts.
- Work closely with the legal and finance teams to finalize terms and conditions of contracts.
- Monitor and manage the sales pipeline to ensure all opportunities are effectively pursued and closed.
- Market Analysis and Reporting:
- Analyze market trends, competitor activities, and customer needs to inform business development strategies.
- Provide regular reports on sales performance, market conditions, and business development activities to senior management.
- Develop and maintain a comprehensive database of clients, opportunities, and industry contacts.
- Collaboration and Team Support:
- Work closely with internal teams including project management, engineering, and finance to ensure smooth execution of projects and client satisfaction.
- Provide insights and recommendations to improve service offerings and enhance competitive positioning.
- Mentor and support junior sales team members as needed.
- Bachelor's degree in Business, Marketing, Engineering, or a related field; MBA or relevant advanced degree is a plus.
- Proven experience in sales and business development within the structural steel fabrication and installation industry.
- Strong understanding of the structural steel market, industry trends, and key players.
- Excellent communication, negotiation, and interpersonal skills.
- Demonstrated ability to build and maintain client relationships.
- Results-driven with a track record of meeting or exceeding sales targets.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced environment.
