Our dedicated team of professionals, including field service technicians and engineers, plays a crucial role in ensuring the reliability of operations across essential industries such as defense, emergency services, and global logistics.

Compensation: $34.00 to $47.00 per hour, commensurate with experience and skills. An additional $1.50 per hour for fieldwork.

Travel Requirements: Anticipate up to 50% travel.

Position Summary: We are seeking a Journey Level Marine Field Technician to support our growth in the marine sector. The ideal candidate will have substantial experience with MTU engines and will be responsible for a variety of marine applications.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assess unit condition through inspections and diagnostic evaluations, identifying any deficiencies.
  • Perform engine overhauls and other repairs as determined during diagnostics.
  • Conduct sea trials to verify performance and make necessary adjustments.
  • Manage costs effectively by utilizing warranties and evaluating service and parts options.
  • Maintain accurate records of engine and vessel service and repairs.
  • Ensure a safe and organized work environment.
  • Take initiative in addressing new requests and exploring value-added opportunities.
  • Conduct commissioning trials for MTU engines.
  • Communicate professionally with customers while on-site.
  • Assist in training and mentoring apprentice marine technicians as required.

Qualifications:

  • Proficient in laptop and PC operations.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving capabilities.
  • Ability to visually diagnose mechanical issues effectively.
  • Familiarity with reading service manuals, operating instructions, and work orders.
  • Timely execution of repairs.
  • Proficient with electrical multi-meters.
  • Comprehensive understanding of diesel engine electronic controls.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, capable of engaging with technical support, sales, and management.
  • Able to work independently and collaboratively within a team.

Experience and Education:

  • High School Diploma or equivalent required.
  • Technical training is advantageous.
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience, particularly with large bore marine diesel engines.
  • Strong background with MTU engines is essential.
  • Experience with MTU MCS/RCS electronics is preferred.
  • Familiarity with Diasys software is a plus.

Additional Requirements:

  • Frequent travel within the assigned area, which may include international travel.
  • Valid, unrestricted driver's license with insurability.
  • Possession of a personal set of mechanic's tools.
  • Transportation Worker Identification Credential (TWIC) card is a plus.
  • Completion of company-provided manufacturer training, both online and in-person.
